Circuit Setup

In this case, we will set up circuits for the autotransformer template.

  1. Setting Up the Circuit
    • The voltage source on the left side
    • Primary and secondary windings, along with the load
    • Current flows through both windings and the load in a step-down autotransformer
  2. Building the Circuit
    • Setting Positive terminal for voltage source and primary winding
    • Setting a Negative terminal for the voltage source, a secondary winding, and load as ground
    • Defining a Common node that connects both windings
    • The selection of index numbers is arbitrary
    • Common indexes between components indicating connections between them
  3. Simulation and Results
    • Running the simulation (takes about 15 seconds)
    • Checking results in the Graphs section
    • Analyzing amplitude current for primary, secondary, and load
  4. Observations
    • The current amplitude in the load is a sum of primary and secondary currents
